115 kg at 25.
Mid-nacho.

July 2024. Cinema, Deadpool & Wolverine, nachos in hand. Hugh Jackman goes shirtless in the final scene and one thought lands: that's a body to have. I got home and stepped on the scale. 115 kg.

The longer version

I knew I'd let myself go. Seeing the number at 25 was still a shock.

Right then I decided to make my body the project of a lifetime. Give it what it needed, not just what it wanted. It was hard at the start. It is still hard. But first I had to be honest about how I got there.

// whenWhen work became my entire life. I didn't notice until my sister asked: "Don't you have anything else to talk about apart from work?"
// howTotal neglect. No sleep, no exercise, constant munching. I was killing it at work and failing myself.
// whyI stopped caring. Junk food, a soda after every meal, too many Red Bulls. 2XL shirts to hide the belly, and a story that I looked fine.

I wasn't fine.

Today I'm almost 20 kg down. There's no end goal or finish line anymore. It's about being a healthy person and living clean: balance, portion control, and the gym 6 times a week for at least an hour. This morning I ran 3 km before work. In July 2024 I couldn't have started that run.

At work, the same shift happened. The more I used AI, the more of my day turned out to be repeatable. I handed that half over, and the hours came back. I spend them on sleep and the gym. Today I head technology at a fintech in the UAE, with more on my plate than ever and 20 kg less on my frame.

This isn't about bragging. It's about what happens when you finally decide that you matter. I had to ask myself one question, and you should too: how much do you actually love yourself?

Because I'm in deep love with myself.
